On Saturday 16th November, Winter Skate, Birmingham’s new outdoor ice rink arrives in the city for the festive season. The Olympic sized ice rink will take pride of place in Centenary Square, near the new Library, The REP and ICC, and will be open to the public until Sunday 5th January 2014.
The ‘real ice’ ice rink will give visitors a more effortless and authentic skating experience compared to skating on artificial rinks, which are made of synthetic materials.
In addition to the ice rink, Winter Skate visitors can warm their fingers and toes in the Ice Café, which will serve scrummy seasonal delights, with everything from indulgent, hot chocolates and sausage rolls to spiced mulled wine and mince pies. For those who would prefer to sit back and enjoy the action from above, there will be dry viewing platforms and seating areas.
