Recently revamped (for the umpteenth time!) the Baburchi now looks like a slightly tacky nightclub inside and with it's western music and wide-boy waiters it could be awful, but in fact is the best Indian for miles around.
A wide menu including fish and duck dishes not seen on the usual indian menu, it serves up the staples with a freshness and punchiness to be admired. King Prawn Puree actually has fresh shell-on prawns in a sparky tomato base, and even starter portions of tikka come sizzling on a hotplates with red and white onion. Portions are retro-vast and meat melts in the mouth. This evening's dhansaks were perfectly sweet-sour-hot.
Bit pricier than it's competitors (especially the drinks) but well worth. You'll waddle back into the carpark.
