Shakespearean actors head team of Romantic performers

On Wednesday 17th March an exciting and atmospheric event will take place at the Sir John Soane Museum, which will be playing host to a select gathering of guests for a reception and an evening of Romantic poetry and prose, as a fund raiser for the Keats-Shelley House in Rome.

After a champagne reception the guests will wander as they choose through the candlelit rooms, encountering different performers reading from the works of Keats , Byron and the Shelleys. Under the Classical Dome and amid Soane's collection of statuary, Scott Brooksbank, Shakespearean actor and leading light of the exciting new Factory Company, will be reminding the audience of the Romantics love of the Classical world. In the medieval Monk's Parlour Ollie Dimsdale, of the acclaimed Filter Company, will be exploring the world of Horror and the Gothic. Upstairs in the Golden Drawing Room Olivia Darnley, recently of the Peter Hall Company, will be reading some of the great Romantic favourites. In the Breakfast Parlour Alex Avery (RSC, Another Country) will be reading from Keats's romantic letters and poems.

This promises to be a fascinating and atmospheric evening, directed by playwright and Keats-Shelley Trustee, Angus Graham-Campbell.

The event is in aid of the restorations and development of the Keats-Shelley House in Rome, where Keats died tragically of consumption at the age of 25 . The House has been open as a museum for 100 years and is running a Centenary Appeal. It has already raised £95,000 towards its target of £237,000.
