2010 Oldie Literary Lunches

Tuesday February 23rd at Simpson’s-in-the-Strand

Tony Benn
Letters to my Grandchildren
Tony Benn writes, 'As a diarist I have chronicled the time through which I
have lived in meticulous detail: but all that is history. What matters now
is the future for those who will live through it.' His 13th book is a series
of lectures about the future. 'Benn is at his best live, accessorised with
his pipe and his pints of tea' (Kate Muir, the Times).

Ion Trewin
Alan Clark: The Biography
The literary director of the Man Booker Prize will speak about his new
biography. Trewin is also the former editor-in-chief of Weidenfeld &
Nicolson and author of The Hugo Young Papers. Robert Harris called his new
book 'a highly entertaining biography' in the Sunday Times.

Dame Margaret Anstee
The House on the Sacred Lake
Dame Margaret worked for the United Nations for over four decades and was
its first female Under Secretary-General. She headed the UN Programme in
Bolivia for five years and fell in love with the country. The House on the
Sacred Lake describes her personal journey and the turbulent times of her
adopted home.
