We’d love to welcome you back to our new(ish) quarterly night for stunning national and local poetry with open mic – all hosted by regular VERVE Poetry host Sam J Grudgings. Our events will usually (but not always) be on the second Tuesday of the month with subsequent night’s scheduled for October, January & April.
Our night will have four features – two local and two national and of varying levels of experience. We’re thrilled to write that our July headliner is Bristol poet extraordinaire and Language Is A Queer Thing alumni, Ife Grillo!
From Birmingham come two super poets – newly VERVE Poetry Press published Lexia Tomlinson celebrating the arrival of her long awaited debut, Sankofa, and up coming poetry star, Adjei Sun. AND from Derby, host of Word Wise Poetry Night and Co-director of Derby Poetry Festival, Sophie Sparham, wraps up our bill.
Each half of the night will have room for 5 open-micers (so 10 open mic slots in all!) followed by two of our featured poets. Open mic sign up between 6.30 & 6.50 on the night – names will be drawn from a hat at 6.55pm.
These are proving to be storming nights of lively and lovely poetry where new voices blend with those of quality features! Join us!
