North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Community Listening Event

Free event for the community to find out more about the ambulance service

People living and working in Cumbria are invited by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to share their views and experiences of our 999 emergency ambulance service, patient transport service (PTS) and NHS 111 service as part of a community listening event.

Whether you’re an interested member of the public, NHS professional, carer, patient, or healthcare champion, we want to listen to and learn from you. We are hosting a series of events across the five counties of the North West (Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire) to meet and talk to people who use our services.

Our determined staff continue to care compassionately for Cumbria’s residents whilst the NHS faces on-going challenges, particularly with hospital handover delays. We have seen how in recent times, our healthcare needs have changed and, as both an emergency service and an NHS trust, we’re looking at how we can adapt and improve.

With this in mind, we are checking in with people in our communities to discuss how effectively we deliver our 999, PTS and 111 services, ensuring we have the right resources in the right place at the right time, to perform to the high standards our patients expect.

Our Cumbria area community listening event will take place on Thursday 22 February 2024, 11:30 – 14:30 at Morton Manor, Wigton Road, Carlisle CA2 6JP.

Who is it for?

The event is for you if:

  • You are interested in the ambulance service or the NHS
  • You have used any of NWAS’ services (999, PTS and 111)
  • You champion health and care in your community
  • You interact with our services as part of your job or voluntary role
  • You are willing to share your views and listen to other people

What to expect

During the event, you will hear how we help thousands of patients who need urgent and emergency care every day and what to expect from our services in 2024. You will help us to understand what’s important to people in your area by sharing your views and experiences in fun and interactive activities. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions to frontline staff and senior leaders.

Free lunch and refreshments will be provided for all guests.

After the event, we will collect and analyse all of the experiences shared which will be used to help to improve care for people in your community, just like you.
