Celebrate World Elephant Day at Sudeley Castle and Gardens

Celebrate the world’s largest living land mammal with Lady Ashcombe, Chatelaine of Sudeley Castle, and special guest, Elizabeth Hurley

Friday 12th August marks World Elephant Day and this year, guests at Sudeley Castle and Gardens – situated in the stunning Cotswolds – are invited to celebrate the world’s largest living land mammal with Lady Ashcombe, Chatelaine of Sudeley Castle, and special guest, Elizabeth Hurley.

During the pandemic, Sudeley Castle and Gardens became a refuge for over 30 spectacular life-sized animal sculptures including elephants, kangaroos, camels, rhinos, zebras and more, all making up the Sudeley Sculpture Safari.

The latest installment in Sudeley’s programme of events celebrates all things elephants; from the 12th – 19th August, visitors can take an ‘elfie’ with the herd of elephants at Sudeley Castle, take part in the Sudeley elephant quiz and even enjoy a trunk show – with the chance to purchase an antique trunk from Lady Ashcombe’s private collection, all proceeds funding co-existence efforts.

Those in attendance on the 12th August in particular, will have the chance to meet the family who lives at Sudeley and hear the story of their conservation efforts and their close connection to these magnificent mammals. In addition to the celebrations, there will be a Puja/flower offering to the elephants residing at Sudeley, led by close friend and elephant ambassador, Elizabeth Hurley.
