About Classic Clapton Unplugged
Mike Hall and Adam Howells from Classic Clapton — the world’s number one Eric Clapton tribute band — make a welcome return to The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, North Yorkshire, on Friday 30 April 2027, for a rare acoustic concert. The pair have played this historic venue four times before, including several sell-out shows, and this unplugged date promises something more intimate than the full-band experience.
The show is built around Slowhand’s multi-million-selling “Eric Clapton / Unplugged” album — the best-selling record of his career, a multiple Grammy winner, and the release that returned him to the top of the world stage in the early 1990s. Classic Clapton have built a reputation for faithful, passionate performances, and here they strip the songs back to voice and acoustic guitar to celebrate the record that made Clapton a household name all over again.
What to Expect
The concert begins at 7:30pm and is performed as two 60-minute sets with an interval. Both musicians sing and play acoustic guitar, putting the emphasis firmly on the songs and the vocals. Expect highlights from the Unplugged album alongside beloved Clapton classics, including “Tears in Heaven”, “Before You Accuse Me”, “Layla”, “Running on Faith” and “Signe”.
The Georgian Theatre Royal is an intimate playhouse dating from 1788, so there is not a poor seat in the house and the atmosphere is warm and close-up — ideal for an acoustic performance. Tickets are expected to move quickly given the venue’s history of sold-out Clapton nights.
