Worthy Earth is a collection of regenerative, no-dig market gardens in Hampshire, producing fresh, ethical food to the local area. This Summer, the team are curating their first, independent music and craft festival on the rolling hills of Hampshire above their Dummer Market Garden. The end of Summer celebration brings the local and wider community together for a gathering of excellent world and folk music sourced locally and from around the globe, practical craft workshops, inspiring talks and comic poetry.
The lineup currently includes Baka Beyond, world music performers par excellence, who will be performing uplifting and scintillating songs in their heartfelt blend of Celtic and West African music. Hampshire and Foat will be making a rare appearance performing their stunning resume of atmospheric jazz and folk from their collaborative five studio albums led by Jazz-musician Greg Foat and the Bees’ guitarist Warren Hampshire. Irish and English folk renditions courtesy of the excellent Moonaroon will provide a lively entrance to the festival on Friday night. Many more speakers, musicians and poets yet to be announced will also be appearing under our giant Moroccan tent. Late night dancing will be courtesy of all-vinyl classic house aficionados FLOW Soundsystem to keep the flame of life-affirming dance music alive until 2am each evening.
Food vendors will be cooking up a range of delicious cuisine from wood-fired pizzas to wholesome curries to sourdough toasties and breakfast smoothies. All cooking will make use of the brilliant harvests of the on-site market garden, Worthy Earth. The bar will be serving local beers, ciders, wines and juices from artisan producers in the nearby area to ensure an ethical and delicious drinking experience. Craft workshops will be taking participants through the practice of mural painting, spoon whittling and incense making, as well as juggling and circus activities for children. A Makers’ Market will give stall holders the chance to present their wares and sell home-made pieces to attendees of the festival.
Fireside music jams and gatherings will tee off the entertainment of a small, independent festival destined to become an alternative staple on the Hampshire landscape, offering genuine community and love ahead in a time of disconnection and crisis.
