National Dance Company Wales performs Blue | Glas at The Courtyard in Hereford on 29 September 2026. The company’s double bill brings two contrasting pieces to the city in a single evening — a rare chance to see Wales’ national dance company on the Herefordshire stage.
The programme pairs Ordinary Courage, Theo Clinkard’s 2012 work remade this year for NDCWales, with Untamed, a new piece by Alesanda Seutin. Where the first is a sincere, quietly devastating reflection on grief and human connection, set to a score that weaves in Scarlatti and Bach, the second is charged with movement and appetite.
What to Expect
Untamed is rooted in the human urge to run. Bodies coil like springs ready to release, driven by a soundtrack that includes traditional Welsh instruments and ancestral voices. The two works together make an evening that is warm, deeply moving and cathartic — a full programme rather than a quick showcase.
The performance begins at 19:30 and finishes at approximately 22:00, including an interval. The Courtyard is a friendly, accessible venue, making this an easy first taste of contemporary dance as well as a treat for regulars.
Because it is a double bill, the evening offers two very different experiences for the price of one ticket. If you are new to the company, Ordinary Courage provides an accessible, lyrical way in, while Untamed shows the dancers at their most physically daring.
