The Martlesham Hips

Cycle ride from Ipswich Hospital to the Royal College of Surgeons, London in memory of Dame Clare Marx to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

12 years ago Clare Marx and her team replaced both my hips at Ipswich Hospital. Sadly Clare passed away last year due to pancreatic cancer. Her wish was that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer UK.
In her memory a small team of us are cycling from Ipswich Hospital to the RCS London to raise funds for her nominated charity. The bulk of us are doing this over 2 days and are sleeping in a church hall in Romford. A couple of the team are leaving early on the Sunday morning and meeting us en-route. If anyone would like to join us please get in touch with me buy the end of June.
I am sure there must be many many people who read your paper who have had their lives transformed by the skills of Clare and her team over the years , I know I have. If anyone would like to donate in her memory the link is on the poster or just type Clare Marx or The Martlesham Hips into the Just Giving site and you’re in. Thank very much in advance.
Finally I must thank Clare’s husband Andrew for all his support getting this up and running , Medequip Ipswich Depot for giving us a van and fuel to get the bikes back and James Lander/Chris Dawson for driving , St Andrews church Romford for letting us use the church hall overnight for no charge , The Royal College of Surgeons London and Pancreatic Cancer UK for your help and support and finally Corinne & Tim Rousham for manning our support vehicle, sorting out our stops for , helping with everything I forgot and for just being great. This couldn’t have happened without you both.
