About the Event
Holy Pop! is a celebration of the modern shrine: the objects, collections and spaces through which we honour heroes, celebrities and cult icons. In an increasingly secular world, the way we idolise pop stars, film characters and cultural figures has become a contemporary form of devotion — and this exhibition at Somerset House explores exactly that fascinating phenomenon.
From Princess Diana to Andy Warhol, Prince and Harry Potter’s Dobby the Elf, the exhibition uncovers how fan devotion shapes our identities and brings people together. In a fast-moving digital age, it stands as a celebration of human connection, community and the physical objects that anchor our fascination with pop culture.
What to Expect
Set across three rooms, Holy Pop! takes visitors on a journey through the different ways we express admiration and solidarity. Expect personal shrines, fan-made objects, curated collections and surprising artefacts that reveal how ordinary people turn adoration into art.
The exhibition is open daily until Sunday 9 August 2026. Opening hours are 10:00 to 18:00, with late closing at 20:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings — perfect for an after-work visit. Each room offers a different perspective, from intimate personal tributes to larger-than-life celebrations of global icons.
Getting There
Somerset House is located on the Strand, London WC2R 1LA. The nearest underground stations are Temple (District and Circle lines) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines). Covent Garden and Holborn are also within easy walking distance, and many bus routes pass along the Strand.

Tickets & Pricing
Entry to Holy Pop! is by donation, so you can pay what feels right. Booking is required, and reservations can be made on the Somerset House website: somersethouse.org.uk. Donations support the exhibition programme at Somerset House.

Donations can be made on site or when booking, and every contribution helps Somerset House continue its ambitious programme of exhibitions and events. The exhibition is suitable for all ages, and the historic courtyard is a lovely spot for a coffee before or after your visit.
