PAUL MILLNS The veteran songwriter and pianist returns to the Half Moon for a night of grizzled smoky blues-soaked songs and a new album, with special guest BUTCH COULTER [Long John Baldry, Jeff Healey], on harmonica and guitar.
"If there was any justice in the musical world, he would be filling the biggest halls in the land'' THE SCOTSMAN
Paul served his soul and blues apprenticeship as pianist for the likes of Alexis Korner and Eric Burdon in the 70's. But now it is as a singer and songwriter that he has been recognised, especially in Europe. With a voice and style reminding enthusiastic critics of Randy Newman and Tom Waits, he recently released a live album [his sixteenth] to celebrate his recent 70th birthday, and another studio of new songs is on the way; singers like Elkie Brooks and Bonnie Tyler have also recorded his songs.
"His music defies categories, spanning earthy blues, love ballads, soul rock and jazz. He has one of the most expressive voices you will ever hear, and he uses it to bring out all the emotions he packs into some superb lyrics'' MUSIC WEEK
