The Art of Mini Golf

Nine artist-designed mini golf holes at Battersea Arts Centre

About the Event

The Art of Mini Golf is an exhibition of rebellion and play for the curious, the competitive and anyone bold enough to swing outside the lines. At the Battersea Arts Centre, visitors can play their way through nine adventurous mini golf holes, each designed by a leading woman artist, exploring the game’s subversive history.

The game itself was born of rebellion: mini golf was originally invented by 19th-century Scottish women who were banned from ‘real’ golf courses but refused to sit on the sidelines. This exhibition celebrates that spirit with a stellar lineup of artists — including filmmaker Miranda July, who goes ‘All Fores’ for the project.

What to Expect

Each of the nine holes is a work of art in its own right. Kaylene Whiskey sets course with pop icons woven through Anangu culture, Tokyo’s Saeborg unleashes latex creatures of cartoonish menace, and Delaine Le Bas squares the circle. Natasha Tontey entwines speculative storytelling with mythology and technology, Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA joins sound artist Kate Miller to make swamp flowers bloom, Australian duo Soda Jerk open an algorithmic K-hole, and photographer Pat Brassington dives headfirst.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 9 August 2026. Opening hours are 13:00 to 21:30 on weekdays, 11:00 to 21:30 on Saturdays, and 11:00 to 19:30 on Sundays. Clubs and putters are provided, so all you need to bring is your sense of fun.
