About the Event
Wes Anderson: The Archives is the first retrospective exhibition devoted to the distinctive cinematic output of the acclaimed filmmaker, and it is currently running at the Design Museum in Kensington. The museum has been granted unprecedented access to Anderson’s personal archives, built up over three decades — and this is the first time most of these objects have been displayed in Britain.
The landmark exhibition charts the evolution of Anderson’s films, from early experiments in the 1990s to recent productions, as well as his collaborations with key long-standing creative partners. Expect to explore the design stories behind award-winning and iconic films such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Isle of Dogs.
What to Expect
More than 600 objects bring together the director’s meticulous craft: original storyboards, polaroids, sketches, paintings, handwritten notebooks, puppets, miniature models and dozens of costumes worn by much-loved characters. From the melancholic charm of The Royal Tenenbaums to the youthful adventure of Moonrise Kingdom, the exhibition shows how Anderson’s unique vision and dedication to detail have created some of the most visually and emotionally compelling films of recent times.
The exhibition is open daily until Sunday 16 August 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00. It is a must-see for film fans, designers and anyone who has ever marvelled at the intricate worlds Anderson builds on screen.
Getting There
The Design Museum is located at 224-238 Kensington High Street, London W8 6AG. The nearest underground station is High Street Kensington (District and Circle lines), just a short walk away. Earl’s Court is also nearby, and several bus routes including the 9, 27, 28 and 49 stop close to the museum.

Tickets & Pricing
Standard adult tickets are £24. Children aged 5–12 are £12, under-6s go free, and concessions and students pay £18. National Art Pass holders pay £12. Booking is required and can be made on the Design Museum website: designmuseum.org.
Good to Know
Allow at least two hours to explore the full exhibition. Audio guides and family trails are available, and the museum shop stocks a range of Wes Anderson-inspired merchandise. The museum is fully accessible, with lifts serving all exhibition floors.
