Founded in 1888 as the Mildmay Radical Club, the Mildmay Club has over 130 years of history rooted in London’s radical and nonconformist tradition. Today it remains a vibrant private members’ club with nearly 3,000 members, combining affordable social spaces with a lively programme of arts, culture, sport and entertainment.
Grade II listed working men’s club
The club building at 33–34 Newington Green (N16 9PR) is a rare, Grade II listed example of a large, purpose‑built metropolitan working men’s club, designed by architect and member Alfred Allen around 1900. Its dignified Queen Anne revival frontage hides an impressive interior that includes a main theatre hall, a smaller hall, snooker hall, members’ bar and lounge areas that retain much of their original character.
Social club, bar and games
As a members’ social club, the Mildmay offers a friendly bar serving reasonably priced drinks, regular bingo, darts and pool, plus one of London’s best‑equipped snooker halls with nine tables.
