‘Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted ….. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.’ Brahms’ Requiem is a setting of passages from scripture, which he chose himself. It is music of consolation, hope, and future happiness. The work includes the beautiful chorus “Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen”, “How lovely are thy dwellings”.
The Oxford Pro Musica Singers perform Brahms’ German Requiem in St. Barnabas Church, Jericho. The music and surroundings promise to provide a unique atmosphere. The German Requiem will be performed in the intimate version accompanied by piano duet.
A programme is included in the price of the ticket. This will include the German texts and an English translation.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of Oxford’s leading chamber choirs perform Brahms’ choral masterpiece.
