Funhouse Comedy brings an outstanding day of comedy to the covered beer garden stage at The New Barrack Tavern, Sheffield on Sunday August 15th with its Edinburgh Festival Preview All-Dayer.
This show was originally scheduled for Sunday July 18th but has been rearranged, with a change to the line-up.
2.00pm – Lloyd Griffith
Comedian, choirboy and an ‘aspiring’ goalkeeper who has supported Jack Whitehall and Rob Beckett on tour. He has also made numerous TV appearances including as regular host on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM and on Comedy Central Live at The Comedy Store. As a choirboy in Grimsby, he sang on ‘The National Lottery, with Dudley Moore who played the piano. Then later in life sang backing vocals on a Bee Gees album. A professional singer but always a natural jester he turned to stand-up and with his down-to-earth cynicism and lively attitude, he enthrals the crowd.
3.25pm – Ignacio Lopez
Spaniard/Welshman with his unique brand of sarcastic observations and witty lines. He gives his audience a taste of what it’s like to be the outsider, explaining cultural differences with hilarious results. During the pandemic he has focussed on putting comedy content online, streaming live comedy events, running a weekly quiz and teaching people how to make Sangria
4.50pm – Shazia Mirza
International award-winning comedian and columnist for the Guardian Weekend magazine who has also guested on ‘Have I Got News For You?’ From Birmingham, she was previously a science teacher with one of her former pupils being the rapper Dizzee Rascal. Star of radio and TV she has appeared on ‘Last Comic Standing’, ‘Richard and Judy’ and ‘The Wright Stuff’. Shazia’s distinctive act combines a deadpan delivery with observation on her world; her laconic one-liners represent something quite unique in modern comedy.
6.15pm – Jack Gleadow
Award winning One Man Variety Show, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2018, the cheeky Jack Gleadow, hailing from Hull and claiming to have illegitimate Chuckle Brothers heritage, he is one of the most unique performers on the UK comedy circuit today.
7.30pm – Raul Kohli
Award winning comedian, writer and actor and a finalist in English Comedian of the Year 2018; he has fast become one of the most captivating acts on the circuit.
As one of the few Asians to have grown up in the far north of England (Newcastle Upon Tyne), he’s been blessed with a Worldview that upends ethnicity, culture and class.
8.45pm Thomas Green
An energetic and enthusiastic ‘Aussie’ with a high-calibre stage presence and countless faces and voices. A former school teacher, he swapped the whiteboard marker for a mic, and hasn’t looked back since.
