Fabulous Fitzhead Fete bounces back on Saturday July 23, from 2 – 4.30pm, at the village cricket ground. The extremely popular community fete, closed for the last two years because of the pandemic, traces its history back for many decades. Now it is set to be a bumper year once again, with free parking and entrance, and a host of attractions ranging from children’s races and games to a beer tent, brass band performances by Wiveliscombe Town Band to delicious teas with homemade cakes and scones.
There will be a traditional flower show tent, a barbecue all afternoon, fun village stocks, and a host of stalls selling everything from books to bric a brac, cakes to jams and chutneys, clothes to sweets, jigsaws, tombola, a prize draw, ice-cream tricycle and more.
The fete always attracts visitors from miles around, and if the weather is good, there will also be a byo barbecue at 6.30pm.
* The following day, a fun Duck Race will take place at 3pm at Holcombe Farm in the village, where delicious cakes and teas will also be on offer in the gardens.
