MOOD-BOOSTING ART INSTALLATION LAUNCHES – FEBRUARY 2026

MOOD-BOOSTING ART INSTALLATION LAUNCHES AT HARLEQUIN THIS FEBRUARY

MOOD-BOOSTING ART INSTALLATION

This February, Harlequin Watford invites visitors to step into a joyful, mood-boosting world of light, colour and sound with the arrival of Beaming – a free immersive cultural art installation designed to lift spirits, spark smiles and brighten the darker months.

Having only appeared in the UK once before, Beaming by Architects of Happiness Kit & Caboodle, will transform Charter Place from 14 February to 29 March, offering shoppers a vibrant sensory experience inspired by 90s dance culture, colour psychology and the uplifting power of music.

Blending bold, dopamine-boosting colour with responsive light and sound, Beaming invites visitors to explore, play and create within a dynamic environment that encourages self-expression and shared moments of joy.

At the heart of the installation is an interactive music-making experience, where illuminated floor pads control different musical elements. As visitors step in and collaborate, a single evolving track is created in real time – giving shoppers a truly authentic, original and playful sound-led experience that transforms the space.

Visitors can also capture the moment with playful photo opportunities, including the Beaming Smiles sculpture located on the Upper Mall near Dunelm.

Visitors can extend the experience by taking part in the Beaming Digital QR Trail, guiding families around the centre to discover interactive digital smiley faces inspired by the installation. Full details will be available via the Harlequin website, with prizes to be won.

Alongside the art installation Harlequin will host Beaming Bar, an exclusive pop-up every Saturday from 14 February to 28 March, 11am–4pm, inviting visitors to pause, reset and prioritise self-care during the darker months. Designed to support confidence, balance and emotional wellbeing, the pop-up brings together experts across fashion, mental health and mindfulness.

Local stylists Lisa Wisdom, Karen Peters Amphlett and Hayley Bloom, will offer thoughtful styling advice focused on dressing for confidence and self-expression, while wellbeing support will be available from Watford wellness studio YogaNastics. Qualified psychotherapist and life coach, Martha Bulling from I Matter Health and Wellbeing Support and mental health and wellbeing expert Tania Diggory from Calmer Workplace will be present to share practical tools and guidance to help visitors feel calmer, more grounded and empowered. Plus, Guideposts Trust will be offering support for those experiencing mental health challenges. Those wanting to visit Beaming Bar can expect a full schedule of events to be shared on Harlequin’s social media.

In addition, top brands around the centre will be part of the Beaming Bar experience including, MINISO, MAC, Boots, Lush, Therapie and The Body Shop to name a few.

Niamh Crowley, Head of Marketing at Harlequin said: ‘We are excited to bring Beaming to Harlequin this season. The art installation celebrates the powerful relationship between colour, sound and mood, offering visitors a joyful and immersive experience at Harlequin at a time of year when we all need a lift.”

“Harlequin is championing the power of expression through music and colour which provides an opportunity for our visitors to enjoy and share moments of connection through a unique experience. We hope that Beaming will be the springboard for people to explore, create and embrace what makes them happy.”
