About Blue | Glas at Festival Theatre
National Dance Company Wales brings its acclaimed double bill Blue | Glas to Festival Theatre in Worcester on 11 September 2026. Wales’ national dance company arrives with an evening that pairs two very different works, both built around courage, loss and the very human need to keep moving.
The programme opens with Ordinary Courage, created by Theo Clinkard in 2012 and remade this year for the NDCWales company. It is a sincere, quietly powerful reflection on grief and the strength we find in one another, carried by a haunting score that weaves together Scarlatti and Bach. It then gives way to Untamed, a visceral new piece from Alesanda Seutin, a 2026 Olivier Award nominee and Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist, rooted in the human urge to run.
What to Expect
Untamed is athletic and commanding. Bodies charged with emotion coil like springs ready to release, set to a driving soundtrack that folds in traditional Welsh instruments and ancestral voices. Are we running away, or towards something new? Together the two works make an evening that is by turns tender and electric — warm, deeply moving and, by the final curtain, genuinely cathartic. It will linger with you long after the movement settles.
Performances begin at 19:30 and run to approximately 22:00, with an interval. Expect a full evening of contemporary dance rather than a single short piece, and a programme that rewards an open mind — no prior knowledge of the company is needed.
